enhancing liveability in Queenstown, Singapore

Caring for the Vulnerable in Society

Augmenting the landscape in terms of liveability, convenience, and comfort, while also promoting deeper empathy towards vulnerable communities (elderly and children) - a catalyst for a better neighbourhood for all.

Layout

Through using textures (visual, sound, tactile), I envision the development of a quiet respite amidst a busy world, allowing elderly, especially those with anxiety, an escape where they can explore their outdoor environments and connect with the people around them. The chosen site is a linear space located next to a bus stop, taxi stand, and Queenstown MRT Station.

Layout

Community Forest

Forest development starts off being planted densely along the side closer to the roads, acting as a noise buffer, with members of the community slowly planting new trees closer to the HDB blocks as the years progress.

As the community grows, so does the forest.

Study Model

The video demonstrates the process of forest development over time, with planting beginning from the areas adjacent to the main road, slowly inching towards spaces closer to the HDB.
